Length of Course 1 year. Examination Board EDEXCEL Assesment Method and Component Percentages There are two components to the course, the portfolio, a folder that consists of four units of course work, and the two unit examinations. The portfolio, =60% of the GNVQ. The two examinations = 40% of the GNVQ The portfolio is assessed by the Centre/ School, and the examinations are assessed by the examinations board. Entry Requirements Students should have an enthusiasm for art, good personal organisation, an ability to work to deadlines, perseverance, dedication and a desire to achieve. What You Will Learn The GNVQ course will build on Skills already achieved at GCSE. You will learn a range of techniques through experimentation with a variety of materials. Techniques in the field of drawing, painting, 3D, textiles, and graphics will be applied within the Course. How You Will Learn There will be a number of demonstrations to show different techniques and processes throughout the course. There will also be a range of visits to London Galleries, which will develop and deepen your understanding of Art Craft and Design. Subject Expectations Units of work are tackled through a number of projects. Students are expected to work to completion deadlines. Students are expected to take part in a number of visits to galleries and exhibitions. Career Opportunitites Students may apply to join ‘A’ level courses on the successful completion of the course. Students may also apply to Art College to join the BTEC National Diplomas courses. Allied Subjects Key Skills in Communication, IT and Numeracy. Key Skills This subject offers opportunities for students to develop the nationally specified Key Skills. The development of student Key Skills enrich their programme of study.
