Length of Course 1 year – full time Examination Board EDEXCEL Assessment Method and Component Percentages For the award of the 6-unit Intermediate GNVQ in Business you must complete three compulsory units and three optional units. The successful completion of the course will result in you having a qualification equivalent to 4 GCSEs at grade A* to C. For each of the six units there is one method of assessment, either a portfolio of evidence or an external assessment. One third of the units will be externally assessed. Entry Requirements Students should have a suitable level of literacy and numeracy supported by a general education equivalent to GCSE at grades D to G. You should have a keen interest in the business world and are considering a career within this area. Any business related work experience would be an advantage. - Personal Finance
- Setting up in business (including the running of a Young Enterprise company)
How You Will Learn You have the opportunity to develop your skills through practical investigation. This may take the form of: - Carrying out research in libraries
- Conducting surveys
- Using case studies
- Internet use
- Completing documents
Your work can be shown in various ways, including giving talks and presentations. Subject Expectations It is expected that students will have excellent attendance record and demonstrate a high level of commitment to the subject. Students must be self discipline in order to complete assignment work on time, which may include working in study time or at home. Career Opportunitites Students gaining an Intermediate GNVQ in Business will have access to a range of career and further education opportunities. This may mean directly into employment or progression onto advanced courses in the business or related area. Allied Subjects This is a stand alone course equivalent to four GCSEs. Key Skills This subject offers opportunities for students to develop the nationally specified Key Skills. The development of student Key Skills enrich their programme of study.
