Length of Course 1 Year Examination Board Accredited by EDEXCEL Assessment Method and Component Percentages You will be assessed by a series of assignments. Each assignment is designed so that you can show your understanding of a number of learning outcomes for each unit. Each unit is assessed a series of assessment activities designed to cover certain grading points. Each unit is graded a pass, merit or distinction. Within each grade there is a number of criteria for which evidence is required. To gain a grade, you will need to provide sufficient evidence for each criteria. To gain a merit, you will not have to get a pass grade but pass the merit criteria as well. A pass is equivalent to 4 GCSE Cs. A merit is equivalent to 4 GCSE Bs. A distinction is equivalent to 4 GCSEs As. Entry Requirements There are no formal entry requirements for this course, however you should have a good record of attendance and punctuality and have a lively and enquiring mind. Commitment and a willingness to work hard is essential. Maturity, commitment and a desire to be successful in working towards a career in public services. What You Will Learn The public services offer a vast range of opportunities in careers, in services such as police, fire, ambulance, army and navy. Whatever service you decide to join there will be numerous chances for career and personal development. You will learn new skills and develop your abilities, you will learn more about the community in which you live and work, and you will make a valuable contribution to the welfare of the people who live in that community through the job you do. Remember, the public services are the biggest employer in this country and are essential to the well-being of the nation.
