(N.B. within this criteria the term "parent" is used to refer to parents or legal guardians) 1. Preference will be given to applicants who have made Minster College and Post 16 Centre their first choice. 2. Minster College and Post 16 Centre will admit its proposed admission number and a similar number in subsequent cohorts. Current PAN is 450. 3. Admissions to the College are made without reference to abillity or aptitude. In event of over-subscription for these places, the following criteria are used in the order given to decide which student should be offered a place: Children in care Current family association, a brother or sister in the school at the time of entry Health and special access reasons. Children who, for reasons of health or physical impairment, require them to attend a particular school. The child's health reasons must be strong and the evidence must demonstrate a special connection between the child's needs and a particular school. The evidence must be supported in writing by a medical practitioner. Residence within a particular scheme of secondary education. Nearness of children's homes and ease of access to schools. We use the shortest available walking route between home and schools as the measure, which may include footpaths.
4. Students are able to join the College in Year 12 for Post 16 studies. The specific academic entry requirements are set down in the Post 16 prospectus. Students in Year 11 at Minster College have priority over those seeking to join the sixth form from other schools. In the event of over-subscription the criteria to be applied for admission will be those listed in paragraph 3 above. 5. For other applications for admissions to the College such as: Late application for Year 9 Application for admission to years other than 9 and 12 Application for admission to any year after the beginning of the academic year
6. Places will be offered, if they are available, to applicants according to the criteria specified in 3 and 4 above. 7. The College will notify the Secretary of State for Education and Employment of any changes to its admission arrangements. The College has established arrangements for appeals against non-admission.
